Uttoxeter Skating Star 2025 Winner

The Skating Stars initiative was launched in April 2015 by Planet Ice around the country and has proved very successful. This year the auditions at Uttoxeter were initially attended by many hopefuls who had never or rarely skated before.

From the initial launch 15 skaters were identified and after the first 6 weeks, 10 skaters that showed the biggest commitment and improvement were asked to continue for a further 6 weeks, after which the finalists were chosen.

The skaters, aged between 6 and 10, have been put through their paces on our Skate Excellence courses, which in some cases has proved to be a complete life-changing experience. They have all worked very hard throughout the process and with their exceptional commitment their abilities and confidence have improved massively. Planet Ice Uttoxeter is very proud of each of them.

After just 22 weeks of learning to skate, Layla-Rose, Giorgia, Tobias and Libby-Rae competed in a special Skating Stars Gala to win the Skating Star Trophy of 2025. After each skater performed their individual solo programme, showing off their new skills to an audience of families and friends, the judges pronounced Layla-Rose the Uttoxeter Skating Star Winner of 2025.

Layla-Rose, aged 10, who had not skated before the competition, was looking forward to learning and developing new skills when she entered. She enjoys reading and baking and is currently learning to speak Swedish. She would like to be an airline pilot in the future.

Layla-Rose is now looking forward to continuing her skating journey and is excited to be taking part in this year’s Christmas Ice production of Dick Whittington.
