Planet Ice Coventry to host WGKF World Championships 2027

World General Karate Federation championship comes to the West Midlands next spring.

Planet Ice Coventry has been announced as the host venue for the WGKF World Championships 2027, taking place from 29 April to 2 May 2027.

Organised by the World General Karate Federation (WGKF), the four-day championship will bring karate competitors, coaches, officials and spectators from around the world to Coventry for one of the sport’s most prestigious events.

The championships will make full use of the venue’s non-ice facilities, demonstrating Planet Ice Coventry’s versatility as a destination for major sporting and live events. The announcement reflects Planet Ice’s growing programme of non-ice events, which includes boxing, combat sports, concerts, darts and family shows.

Matt Poultney, Head of Events at Planet Ice, said:

"“We are excited to welcome competitors and spectators from around the world to Planet Ice Coventry for this exciting and prestigious event, which will showcase our non-ice facilities over the four days.”

Further details on spectator tickets, schedules and visitor information will be released via https://www.wgkfkarate.com/ in due course.
