Basingstoke Ice Rink Refurbishment Progress – June 2025

We are pleased to share the latest progress on the refurbishment of Planet Ice Basingstoke. Significant strides have been made over recent weeks, with our contractor now completing works to the North, South and East Stands. In addition, the perimeter walkways around the rink have been fully refurbished, and new steps have been installed leading up to the North Stand.
The snow pit and resurfacer area have been relocated to the former site of the Air Handling Unit, adjacent to the North Stand. Inside the venue, work is underway to restore the distinctive red metal roof framework, retaining its original red oxide colour. A new silver thermal break is also being installed in the roof structure to help resolve previous humidity issues within the building.
Looking ahead, the next phase of works includes the installation of the ice barrier sections, and the arrival of plumbing and electrical teams on site. Fit-out of the changing rooms and toilet facilities will also begin during this period.
