Ice Skating FAQs

Do I need to book online?

We highly recommend booking online to secure your spot. If the session reaches full capacity, you won’t be able to enter without a booking.

Is skate hire included?

Skate hire is not included in our Ice Skating Sessions, except for our Inclusive Skates, where it is provided.

Do you have skating aids available for hire?

Yes, skating aids are available to hire from the rink, starting at £7 per hour. Some rinks also offer the option to pre-book skating aids online under the ‘Extras’ section.

Can wheelchairs go on the ice?

Yes, wheelchairs are permitted on the ice. We recommend contacting your local rink in advance to confirm any additional requirements for a smooth experience.

Lessons FAQs

What should I wear?

We recommend wearing multiple warm layers and a thick pair of socks for your lessons. Depending on your lesson type, gloves and boot covers may be required.

What time should I arrive for my lessons?

We suggest arriving 15-20 minutes before your lesson to allow enough time to put on your skates and prepare for the session.

What happens if I miss a lesson?

If you miss a lesson, it is typically non-refundable, and we cannot guarantee any rescheduled or makeup lessons. In rare cases, a makeup lesson may be possible, subject to coach and course availability, but this is not guaranteed.

Do you provide skate sharpening services?

We only offer Skate Sharpening at Planet Ice Hemel Hempstead, Solihull, Uttoxeter and Widnes. Skates will need to be left at the location for a few days up to a week to be sharpened.<br>Skate Sharpening costs are from £6.50.

Birthday Party FAQs

What should we wear?

Warm clothes, gloves, and hats are recommended to keep you nice and warm during the party.

Can I hire more skating aids than the two included?

Yes, you can hire more skating aids either during the booking process or afterward.

How long do the birthday parties last?

Birthday parties last for an hour and a half. This includes 1 hour for ice skating and half an hour to enjoy the party food.

Can I bring a birthday cake and candles?

Yes, you are more than welcome to bring a birthday cake and candles.

Patch FAQs

What is Patch?

Patch Ice sessions are reserved for skaters who have reached Level 5 or higher in Skate Excellence or its equivalent. These sessions, which range from 30 to 60 minutes, provide an exclusive practice environment away from the general public.

What level do you need to be to attend Patch sessions?

To attend Patch, you must be at Level 5 or higher in Skate Excellence lessons or have an equivalent level of skill.

What can I do during a Patch session?

Patch sessions allow you to practice the skills you've learned in lessons, including spins and jumps, which aren't permitted during public skate sessions. They also offer the space to rehearse routines and prepare for competitions.

Is a Patch membership required to use Patch sessions?

>No, a Patch membership is not required. Patch sessions can be booked individually as pay-as-you-go options.
