What Can Planet Ice Offer
Ice skating at Planet Ice are the best around – We have lots of different kind of sessions for ages and abilities and with stewards on the ice to help make sure you have a safe and fun day out! We want you to have hours of fun and to see you smiling like never before!
Skate packages are available for an additional cost, please see timetable and your shoes will be looked after while you are out on the ice. Spectators can enjoy views from around the ice and if you want to keep warm you can watch all the action from our cafe’s and bars.
The sport in which individuals, duos, or groups perform on figure skates on ice. Figure skating disciplines include
single, pair skating and ice dancing. Skills and moves on the ice includes spins, jumps, lifts, jumps and spiral. Other disciplines include synchronized skating.
Planet Ice have a fantastic track record for teaching people how to ice skate. We have now adopted the Skate Excellence program which places a bigger emphasis on Fun whilst learning.
Enrol onto one of biggest ice skating courses in the UK and you’ll get weekly coaching from a Skate Excellence qualified coach.
Over the duration of the course, our experienced coaches will help you learn every level of ice skating from your first steps on the ice all the way up to being a pro! Fancy being the next big star of the ice skating world? Well you’re in the right place.

Our 6-week courses are available for all ages from preschoolers right through to adults, it is a great way for the whole family to get involved.

This is your toddler’s time to experience everything the big kids love about ice skating. Your little one can get their first experience of ice skating with the whole rink to to themselves.
Our Penguin Club session is exclusively open for toddlers between walking age and 4 years, along with any accompanying parents or guardians. Without the older kids around, the toddlers can feel right at home on the ice. With toys and games on the ice as well, it won’t be long before your little one is skating all by themselves!
We also offer penguin learn to skate courses which are designed for “preschoolers”. Ice Penguins teaches participants how to skate through play, the use of colors, shapes, and visual aids.
The lessons are audio driven, with our different penguin characters & the penguin club leader guiding participants through the basic instructions. The use of familiar nursery songs helps to create a fun-loving environment that will make for an enjoyable experience for all!
Showcase your skills on the ice!
Show and Skate is a programme specifically developed by the Skate Excellence team for skater’s looking to break into show skating. The Show & Skate session focuses on performing arts on ice, skating moves and skills used in shows and will also be the source of skaters for all Planet Ice shows into the future.
All skaters who are interested in performance skating and wanting to pursue a career in performance skating, should consider enlisting for the new Show and Skate 2018 sessions. Skaters looking to appear in the shows will be required to enroll on the Show and Skate sessions available at the rink.

Hockey Excellence courses are aimed at students who are 18 & under who want to learn to skate to play hockey.
Skate Excellence has developed a new progressive programme that is designed to provide skills and instruction. This course works as an introduction to hockey focusing on basic hockey style skating and the use of sticks and pucks.
What do you get when you combine break-neck speed, intensity, and then add ice to the mix? Well, you’ll have a few of the five reasons why you should watch hockey! It’s a game of skill, one which some people consider the only major ‘refined’ sport. The game is fast action-filled. It’s aggressive, yet requires expertise. And it’s original. Could you really ask anything more from a sport?
In some rinks we offer Speed Skating and upon completion of the Skate Excellence level five skating grade, you can progress onto our Learn to Speed Skate course. For more information aboaut speed skating, please contact your local rink.
