It’s n-ICE to be back!!!
We have waited so long for this but it’s happening and we can’t wait to see you on the 25th July 2020. We will be giving updates from today with more details to follow but for now…we are so excited to finally see our customers get those skates on and get back on the slippery stuff
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your patience.

Planet Ice looks forward to welcoming all of our customers back as soon as it is safe to do so and we would like to share our plans for reopening the rinks once current restrictions allow. Currently, we are awaiting confirmation from the Government on when we can open the rinks to the public.

Protecting the safety and wellbeing of all our skaters, parents, and staff members is our top priority in these difficult times. Please feel assured that we will be working diligently to make sure our rinks are as safe as possible for your return. However, due to the ongoing issues surrounding COVID-19 there will be a number of new procedures put into place so that we can do our very best to negate the spread of the virus.

Whilst there are several unknowns, Planet Ice are currently using the UK Active COVID-19 framework for the re-opening of gym, leisure centres and wider fitness industry during social distancing as the basis of our plans for reopening.

Whilst restrictions remain in place, Planet Ice will be operating a temporary timetable that can support social distancing measures for all ice activity.

The initial re-opening plan will incorporate morning and evening Patch sessions. There will also be allocated sessions for private hire including junior hockey training, adult hockey training, and Learn to Skate sessions. All our sessions will be in line with government guidelines which we are expecting to be issued prior to the 4th July announcement.

As there is currently no clear guidance in relation to spectator sports, Planet Ice are currently not expecting the resumption of league hockey to begin this year, however, this will be reviewed in line with government guidance and engagement with the relevant ice hockey leagues.
In terms of public skating we are expecting to operate a reduced schedule based on a maximum capacity of 3m2 per person. These sessions will be in line with government guidelines which are expected to be issued prior to July 8th.

There will multiple public sessions running at weekends rather than Planet Ice’s traditional one long session. These sessions will be limited in duration with a time allowance for access and exiting the ice.

All sessions will be booked online and no purchases with cash will be accepted on-site.

All café and bar areas will remain closed until further notice. Vending for food and drink will remain operational.

COVID-19 is certainly a big challenge for everyone. The situation changes almost daily. Planet Ice will be reviewing our terms of re-opening regularly so they may well be subject to change.

Planet Ice to go cashless from July 1st
