Planet Ice is pleased by the announcement that Nice Leisure Limited and Standard Securities have now completed the transaction on the lease agreement for the ice rink in Basingstoke which will secure ice on the leisure park into the future.

The rink has been closed since November 6th and work had already started on many of the internal aspects of the building.

The ice has been completely removed from the pad and testing equipment initially placed on the heater mat which lies below the cooling pipes of the pad which has not been operational for many years. As a result of this initial and crucial work the heater mat is now fully operational which is a big step forward for the health of the pad both now and into the future.

The toilets, changing rooms, and offices have been stripped out and the rink barrier skin has also been removed as well as all the rubber matting throughout the ground floor. Removing the glass from the barrier and the actual barrier framework are next as is the thermal sheeting in the roof, electrics, plumbing, and sound and light. All operational equipment including I.T. and catering equipment have also been removed.

A program of works to commence the renovations will begin at the start of the new year and structural engineers have been appointed to assist and advise on the next stages. Planet Ice will announce updates on the progress of the rink every fortnight via social networks and the website at www.planet-ice.co.uk
