Planet Ice will go cashless from July 1st 2020. With no real understanding as to when our doors will re-open officially, we do feel that it is important to give our customers as much notice as possible of this change.

With concerns relating to COVID-19 the World Health Organisation released a statement in March advising people to turn to cashless payments to minimise the transmission of the virus. A number of organisations globally have already taken action – In the UK some companies have made the move over the last 12 months.

The maximum cashless transaction you can make without entering a pin has now been increased from £30 to £45 to encourage more cashless payments which in turn minimises the amount of contact a customer has to make to pay for items.

There has been a campaign run through the Planet Ice social network to see how many customers would be in favour of a cashless environment and 75% gave thumbs up. As a result of the decision Planet Ice will be looking to develop a more robust method for booking public skating online in advance of a visit which will include the hire of skates and skating aids, plus additional features for Ice card members too and further updates on this will be released into the near future.

This measure ensures additional safety for our customers and staff by avoiding cash handling and minimising physical contact with surfaces…..and it will speed up the queues which means you can ‘get your skates on’ quicker.
