Planet Ice has one of the most successful ‘Learn to Skate’ courses in the UK. SKATE UK is the approved Learn to Skate course developed by the National Ice Skating Association which Planet Ice has adopted as the fundamental training scheme for all our Learn to Skaters.  Planet Ice Skating Courses at Milton Keynes, and Coventry are taught by the International School of Skating.
The International School Of Skating was established on the first of October 2001 Following the decision by the management of Planet Ice to allocate the figure skating discipline at the Sky Dome Arena specifically to the skating school. ISS operates entirely as an independent body to provide coaching services for the rink and is the only skating school of its kind. The title of 'International School Of Skating' was selected as it represents the coaches that started the school, who are International themselves and have much experience of coaching abroad, therefore bringing expertise and experience to the skaters they teach.
Each course course lasts for six weeks and the joining fee of £60 (From November 11th 2008) includes the following:
All our Planet Ice rinks make provision for Adults that would like to learn to skate. We appreciate that some are looking for a lifestyle change, meet new friends, to keep fit, or simply brush up on skills you haven’t used for years. Whatever your reason most rink offer tailor made courses where you can learn amongst people more your own age. We have Ice Toddler skating classes most weekday’s. We take toddlers from 18 months up to 5 years in our specially priced skating session. There are toys and games on the ice that are designed to encourage your little one to show an interest in ice skating. Parents love it because it gives them an opportunity to get out, meet other people in similar circumstances, and get the kids doing activities from an early age.

When you Learn to Skate on a Planet Ice Skate UK course we enrol you automatically into the SKATE UK membership. The membership is for 12 months. As a member you will enjoy 4 e-newsletters per year, access to NISATV for to both live and pre recorded ice skating video from the British Championships, IJS events, Ice Shows, and many more fantastic ice skating events that have occurred this year. Also included in the NISA TV access is the use of the online SKATE UK video tutorials. These tutorials show you step by step all the 10 stages of SKATE UK in detail and also hint at how to achieve the stages better on the ice. You can watch these tutorials from the comfort of your own how, you iphone or blackberry, or your laptop.
